Frequently Asked Questions:

  1. Should I sign up for organic chemistry if I don’t feel ready?

Ideally you want to take a class just once and do well in it. If you don’t feel ready, do NOT take organic chemistry! If there’s no other choice and you NEED to take the class, you should seek help wherever possible. We offer a Jumpstart Organic Chemistry Series (~10 courses) that will guide you through the whole Organic Chemistry I curriculum for students who are not yet enrolled in organic chemistry.

  2. What are your rates and how do you take payment?

Our current rate is $200/hr and subject to change depending on tutor availability. Venmo (@zoomorgo) or Zelle (ZoomOrgo@gmail.com).

  3. Why get organic chemistry tutoring from you and not from somewhere else online?

We are professional chemistry tutors who specialize in chemistry tutoring. Many of our tutors have studied chemistry up to the doctoral level, served as TAs, or are currently in MD programs. There are many good online tutors out there, but there are also many unreliable online services.

  4. What days and times do you have available for tutoring?

Currently we have availability by appointment, and you will need to check in with your tutor. Email us or go to “Schedule a Session” to check in.

  5. Where do you meet students for tutoring?

All tutoring is done online. After each session, the student will receive a copy of the notes (PDF) via email.

  6. How long does one session last?

On average sessions last between 1-2 hours (usually 1 hour is the most common). Any longer than that and usefulness starts to taper off.

  7. How often should we meet?

Depends on the student and timeline. On average about once or twice per week.

  8. What classes can you tutor?

Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, General Chemistry. Some tutors may have additional offerings upon request.

  9. Do I need to prepare for our meetings?

You do not need to prepare anything for our meetings but it helps to send your tutor your current materials or a note on what you need help with (e.g. discussion worksheets, practice problems, practice tests etc.) to help guide the tutor.
